St Georges Hyde

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 1 Peter 4:10

Volunteers are essential within the life of St Georges and carry out a wide range of duties - there are numerous roles which are undertaken by volunteers but not many volunteers! As a church family we need to work together to serve God knowing that God works through those who serve him.

Below are some opportunities for you to volunteer – remember you can try before you commit and if there is something else you would like to do then please ask. If you would like more information please ask someone who you see undertaking the role they would be happy to speak to you!

Refreshments after morning services

We have drinks and biscuits after the 0915 service and drinks and toast after the 1045 service; these are provided by a number of dedicated volunteers. More people are always welcome to join these rotas if you would like to join the rota please speak to one of the Church Wardens.

Welcoming people

Welcoming people at the doors helps people to feel at home with us. More people are always welcome to join these rotas if you would like to join the rota please speak to one of the Church Wardens.

Operating the projector

We project the words of our service on a Sunday morning at the 1045 service using PowerPoint and are always looking for people to help out with this.

Cleaning

There is a dedicated rota of cleaners who meet on a Friday morning to ensure that the church is kept in a clean and tidy condition – if you would like to help then please speak to Brenda Rainey.

Lifts to Church

Some of our congregation are finding it harder to get to church on a Sunday and would  appreciate a lift to and from our  services. If you would be able to offer lifts then please speak to one of the Church Wardens.

Food Bank

Please help us to support this important project by leaving food in the box at the back of church.

Sunday school and YPF

Both of these groups would like to hear from people who would like to join the rotas on a regular or casual basis as the number of helpers has recently dropped! Please speak to Catherine Hollingworth or Katy Jones for more information.

Taking Part in Sunday services

There are lots of opportunities to read or to lead the prayers, lead intercessions, act as a sides person or assist with the chalice at Holy Communion. We can help you if you’re not sure where to begin and would love to see everyone using the gifts God has given them. More people are always welcome to join these rotas if you would like to join the rota please speak to one of the Church Wardens.

Gardening

We have a number of garden areas around Church and are also appreciative of people taking time to weed, tidy up and plant as and when they are able to do so. There are working parties twice a year.
